Scout - before the ride start

Introduction:

This section describes what I recommend immediately to do before the ride start. It is like using your bike computer. You reset it before your start riding to get e.g. correct mileage and average.

If you are on bicycle ride it is best to select the route segment and start the autorouting before you perform this function. This way once you reset your 'Trip Computer' as you start the ride, the GPS is immediately autorouting. See How to select a route with example related to Brevets for details

Reset GPS :

  • Use the <PAGE> key until your are on the 'Trip Computer' page
  • Hit <MENU>

  • Select 'Reset'
  • <ENTER>

  • This should be the default: It will reset 'Trip Data', 'Odometer', 'Max Speed', 'Elevation Data' and 'Max Elevation'. This is what you always want.
  • By default it will also clear the 'Track Log'. This is what you also want for a single day ride or Brevet.
  • If you are on a multiday ride e.g. a week vacations tour and want to keep the track log of the prior days, you need to deselect 'Clear Track Log'. The GPS will remember that you deselected the checkmark. If you want to clear the track log you manually need to checkmark it again.
  • Select 'Apply'
  • <ENTER>
  • Warning: By default the 'Delete ...' functions are not activated. Do not use them unless you are absolutely sure that you want to use it. You have to be close to your computer to transfer new data - see Transfering and loading routes, tracks and waypoints to the GPS for how to use this feature.

  • Select 'OK'
  • Wait until the ride start to get the most accurate data and hit <ENTER> at the moment you start the ride.
